Dis Tew Murch…

Summer reading has commenced for me, and I vacillate between nonfiction, urban fiction, and romance (balance, Namaste ). Currently, I am reading Luvvie Ajayi Jones’ latest effort, Professional Troublemaker The Fear-Fighter Manual.  There is a section in her book that discusses when one is labeled as being “too much”, and I liked to have shout and fell out (thanks Fallon). That’s a whole (unfortunate) vibe when you are labeled as too insert bullshit (dark, light, fat, thin, smart, bougie, etc). Rare is the sentiment, “She/He too…” comes with a compliment. And to that I say, “Girl Bye”, and if they’re a Gemini, “ByeBye”. If you are not being a detriment to yourself, children, the elderly, animals, or those who cannot consent.. whose business is it if you’re too anything. As I continue to grow in my wisdom, I am growing awfully weary of these antiquated social mores that try to dictate who can do what with whom. Life is… Too $hort.

I am embracing my too muchness because first it serves me well and secondly because it’s highly unlikely I value the thoughts and opinion of those who label me as too much. Life is too short and some of our edges are too thin to let such critique without credential to gnaw away at our thoughts. So I challenge us to embrace ourselves wholeheartedly and unabashedly so. #GovernYourselfAccordingly
